Where are my Florida friends? I get asked to research some pretty interesting things. This week has been a lot of tax and legal items. I used to do it all the time so people still ping me when they are need of some research assistance.
I was tasked with finding a local attorney in Palm Beach, Florida. It is never easy when a family member dies. If they don’t have their affairs in order in can be a downright nightmare getting everything sorted out. Dealing with wills, trusts and estates can be a messy family affair if not handled properly. Bill Boyes, a local probate litigation attorney from Boyes and Farina is known locally for helping to iron out these situations.
I have quite a few friends that have a trust that belongs to the family. It makes it easier if someone were to pass away to keep the property and assets within the family and out of the courtroom. I personally only have a Living Will these days. I am a big believer in sitting down with an attorney you trust and go over your options before they are needed. If you don’t have a personal attorney, asking for recommendations from friends is your best bet.
Have you ever sat down with an attorney and talked about your families needs? I know so many people who push it off thinking they will take care of it one day. What sadly happens is that One Day often becomes Today and they are not prepared. So stop what you are doing and make a deadline of when you want to have it done by. Then make it happen! Contact friends and families for recommendations and start interviewing attorneys. Go with the one that best meets your family’s needs and goals.
Check having a will, trust, or estate of your list and sigh with relief. Now get out there and enjoy your life!
