What is your car of choice when you are on a road trip? I mean there are the obvious benefits to driving a little compact car, but do you really want to be cramped when you are on the open road?
Disclosure: This post not only shares my adventures with the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, but also has Affiliate Links that I earn commissions from. This is how I make a living and keep this little blog running. Thank you for supporting me! I appreciate it. I received this vehicle to test drive in exchange for an unbiased review. ~ Kristi.
Next question. Do you travel with pets? I know I have told you all the story of why I need a Medical Alert Service Dog and all about how I took an entire day traveling from Alaska to North Carolina to get my pup, Porter Storm (you can read the story here if you haven’t yet). I’ve been traveling for a long time now and let me tell you, travel is far different when you are bringing a dog with you. I no longer have just me to worry about, there are two of us here to be concerned with.
I love driving to the other side of The Golden Gate Bridge. It’s quieter, less people, and I love being steps away from the ocean. Plus, you get postcard perfect pictures too!
I have a thing about road trips. I like to be comfortable when I am traveling more than a couple of hours and since I have Porter with me, I need to make sure he is comfortable too. Yes, I am that kind of dog-mom. If I’m not comfortable, chances are, he isn’t either and I am not okay with that. With the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, we had plenty of room for our road trip! Let me just say, the Mitsubishi Outlander is another sweet ride that is Porter and Kristi approved!
The minute he got into the Outlander, Porter found his favorite spot for nap time.
The Mitsubishi Outlander was fully gassed up and ready to go when I got it! I was able to easily buckle in Porter Storm’s travel carrier and he seemed quite comfortable (he’s a bit of a pro traveler himself these days). I plugged my phone into the 7” Smartphone Link Display Audio and played all of our favorite songs to get us both in the traveling mood. Being able to play your own music and safely access apps and answer calls all through the car’s tech is a nice touch for traveling. The Mitsubishi Outlander is a gorgeous and classy ride, but it is also a comfortable place to spend hours on end, which makes it perfect for road trips.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is gorgeous in this metallic brown!
The cool thing about checking out a new car on a road trip, is being able to just spend time enjoying the ride. When you are use the same car day in and day out, you forget to appreciate all of the great things about it. Having the chance to enjoy driving the Outlander was great, I loved it!!! I have been talking about getting a bigger car better suited to my busy, business-owner lifestyle and this might just be the one. With a standard third row, seven passenger seating, I know I will have plenty of room for fellow travelers {which I quickly needed!}, inventory from my Alaska Wild & Free store, or my luggage when I’m on the go.
As I’m getting comfy learning about the Outlander I receive a text from friends that were at the San Francisco airport. They asked if they could hitch a ride with us out to the retreat we were all headed to. I finally found the answer to just how much can you haul in the Outlander… 5 people, 7 pieces of luggage, 1 dog crate, and one Service Animal. Wowsers!!!
The Outlander’s storage ability – 5 bloggers, 7 pieces of luggage, 1 dog crate, and 1 puppy!!!
What came in handy was just how safe this car was! Not only does it have your typical safety features, but it also features Blind Spot Warning and Lane Change Assist, which helps you to safely change lanes by alerting you when a vehicle is in or approaching your blind spot. This is great when traffic is heavy, or you are mind is on a million other things… like your dog’s head on your lap as he is so freaking tired and there are feet now in his favorite napping spot.
I always bring a blanket down to help protect the inside from dirty paws.
The Mitsubishi Outlander starts at just below $25,000, making it the among the lowest price 7-passenger SUVs in its class. It is also worth noting that it comes standard with a 100k mile Power-Train Warranty and it was awarded the 2019 5-Year Cost to Own Awards: Best Mid-Size SUV/Crossover (3-Row). I’m looking at new vehicles this year, and the Outlander is still at the top of this list. I love it so much! BTW, last year I drove the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and they did something different with this one because it just felt SO much more comfy. I noticed it right away. It honestly felt like my car, like it was meant for me.
We were all up for our road trip adventure!! And why can I never seem to look at the camera during selfies???
PS, why yes that is my Purple Bear Hoodie that Michelle is wearing. It looks great on her!
Thank you Mitsubishi for the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander for our road trip. Because this vehicle was so spacious I was able to fit in all of my friends, their bags, and my pup. It was a comfortable, fun 2-hour drive out of the city.
After the retreat was over and all of my friends were on planes back home, Porter and I took over and drove the California countryside. We loved it!! Knowing that Porter and I had a spacious, comfortable, safe car for our trip made all the difference!
Thank you Mitsubishi!
