Light Step: An Injured Runner’s BFF

Running

It is no secret that I had a serious running injury a year ago where I tore my left Achilles in two places. During my rehab, I have used many different things to help get me back on my feet, pun intended. I wear compression sleeves and socks religiously to help give my legs support. When I had the chance to try out Light Steps Compression Sleeves, I absolutely said YES.

Coming back from a running injury is tough and it takes its toll on my entire body. My right hand side overcompensates for my left. Basically – I run funny and my whole body is out of whack. Recently, I noticed that I was getting shin splints in my right leg because of it. Then came Light Steps Compression Sleeves to the rescue! If you didn’t know, compression sleeves work great against developing shin splints while you’re running!

Now I have ginormous calves – 17 inches to be exact. Ginormous! When I first received the Light Steps Calf Compression Sleeves they didn’t look like they would fit. Boy, was I glad I was wrong! They fit like a glove. I wore them out running and my legs felt great! On a different training run, I wore them over my tall compression socks as I needed a bit more support on this run. When I was finished I was glad to note that my legs didn’t hurt nearly as much as normal. I will always have pain when I run or walk, but calf sleeves help to eliminate just how much and how long.

I also use compression sleeves as part of my recovery. I wear them for 4-6 hours a day after I’ve been running or hiking. So needed! I saw that Light Steps also has a compression sleeve specific for the ankle – you know I will be ordering that right away and giving it a go. Thanks Light Steps – you are an injured runner’s BFF.
