You know, turning 40 was tough. It is something that not a lot of people talk about. The shocked looks on people’s faces when they learn your age is always my favorite. Or when younger Millennials think I don’t know anything about tech because I’m older. Then you have zero TV shows that deal with what it is like to be in your forties, you know, The Other F Word.

f-word-1

Season One’s cast of this digital micro-series includes:
Steve Guttenberg, Judy Gold, Michael Boatman, Reiko Aylesworth and Ben Bailey

During the Fs – you know the 40s and 50s – a lot of women are experiencing an empty nest, the break-up of marriages and dating again, and even a certain freedom that they haven’t yet experienced. For me, living in my forties has been quite the adventure. I started watching The Other F Word, which are short episodes hosted on Amazon. I found myself relating to these women and their stories as they were like most of my friends right now. I’m SO glad that there is a show that resembles the struggles that most of us are going through.

The talented writer,Caytha Jentis, self-funded the The Other F Word project because she was told by so many executives that nobody wanted to see a series about women in their 40s. Seriously?!? Apparently, they felt that it was too similar to Frankie & Johnnie which is a show about women in their 70s! Um, no. I’m 42 people not 60! It seems that Hollywood thinks women over 40 are irrelevant. How quickly they forget that we are the ones that have been working for years and have disposable income.

I enjoyed reading Caytha’s experience on pitching the show and why she decided to self-produce: http://www.theotherfwordseries.com/single-post/2016/05/05/WriterDirector-Statement-The-Other-F-Word-Series
I completely agree with this quote about the series. It was a quick, yet hilariously funny watch on Amazon. My first series to ever watch on Amazon too! You know I’m sending the link out to all my other 40ish friends… they can so relate to these characters. I sure know I do! If you enjoyed the show, leave an Amazon review and let’s help The Other F Word get picked up for another season!

Picking up where Sex & the City and Bad Moms leave off, The Other F Word is a character driven comedy with a lot of heart and a touch of raunch about life after kids for four women friends.
