One of my absolute favorite things to do in Alaska is to head down to Seward and head out for a day on the water with Major Marine Tours on a day cruise. After an exciting day visiting Kenai Fjords National Park and seeing Orcas, Humpback Whales, Stellar Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and puffins, I like that I can walk a very short distance to my comfy hotel room at Hotel 360. If you find yourself in Southcentral Alaska, believe me – enjoy a perfect day in Seward, Alaska out on the water with Major Marine Tours then stay at their partner hotel – Harbor 360.

I was given this cruise and one night stay, but was not required to write or share my experience. But how could I not? I loved it too much and want you to enjoy your day in Seward too! Much love, Kristi.

Specialty Cruises with Major Marine Tours in Seward, Alaska
I’ve had the pleasure of heading out into Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Parks with Major Marine Tours a few times over the years. The only way to see this national park is via a boat or plane… bring on a day cruise! On my most recent trip this cute-as-can-be endangered Harbor Seal came up to the boat to check us out.
We were out in the open water and it was the most epic experience I’ve personally had out on the water. I rented a Canon 100-400 lens as I needed more pics of animals for my sticker line, Alaska Wild and Free. Boy did I get some great shots!!
The Black Horned Puffin Sticker is bright and beautiful – just like these fun aquatic birds!
Then if that day wasn’t awesome enough, I was invited back by 49th State Brewery for the Blackwater Railroad Cruise. Those of you not from Alaska might not know that Blackwater Railroad is a local Seward band that is amazing. Can you imagine being out on a sunset cruise, listening to an awesome band, and drinking delicious craft beer with your beautiful friends? You guessed it – It was a wonderful night! Then I slipped into my bed at Harbor 360 and slept the night away in total bliss. Major Marine Tours has various special cruises throughout the season – I love them for a regular day cruise out of Seward or a specialty cruise.

That’s not all though, many of the Major Marine cruises also have a National Park Ranger on board sharing their knowledge and love of the great outdoors. Plus, enjoy the delicious lunch of wild-caught Alaska Salmon and a Prime Rib Buffet. These are only a few reasons that Major Marine Tours was recently named the most popular attraction in Alaska by TripAdvisor.

When you book a tour with Major Marine, you get to choose between seven difference cruise options, anywhere from 3.5 to 8.5 hours. You can choose a full day adventure cruise aboard a small vessel or a large catamaran type cruise that is suitable for an entire family. Your cruise can be an all-around tour of the Kenai Fjords area and its wildlife or you can choose to put your cruise focus on whale watching in Resurrection Bay. Which would you choose?
Back in 2014, I took my first ever Major Marine cruise and it was just amazing! At that time I chose the 6-hour Major Marine Tour which traveled from Seward through Resurrection Bay and over 100-miles out into the Gulf of Alaska. I loved it so much that I took over 1000 photos and ran out of my room on my memory card, it was so beautiful, I couldn’t stop taking pictures!
