Talk Tuesday: Are You Running?
Talk Tuesday is my most read post every week. It is where you get to ask me whatever you want and I answer you here. Did you miss the prior weeks, take a peek as there is some good stories in there: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8 | Week 9 | Week 10 | Week 11 | Week 12 | Week 13 | Week 14 | Week 15 | Week 16 | Week 17 | Week 18 | Week 19 | Week 20 | Week 21. Have a question for me about anything under the sun? Ask away in the comments below before next Tuesday.
What’s your next race?
For the first time in two years, I do not have a race scheduled. BUT… there is a winter race coming up in Soldotna, AK in February that I am looking at doing. I need to get out my calendar and get some scheduled though!
Thankfully, my ankle and shoulder are doing better after I had some work done on them a couple weeks ago when I was in Indiana. My Achilles is pretty tender these days because snow boots and hiking boots are heavy. I’m back to using KT Tape daily. I wonder if there will come a day when I can walk and run without pain. I hope so.

How is running going? Anyone to run with up there?
To be honest, running hasn’t been happening but once a month. Tonight though, I am going to the Skinny Raven Pub Run, which is similar to Road Runner Sports Adventure Runs. I have met a few other runners, but all the runners I have met up here are pretty fast and leave me in the dust. So it is still a pretty solo experience for me. I did the run last month but really didn’t talk to anyone during or after. Strange, I know. I hope tonight might be different!
I’ve been working on getting spikes for my shoes so I can see if I can run when it is snowing out. To be honest, no idea. I feel like I am on another planet a lot of the times up here. I can still only stand to be outside for a short amount of time before I feel like I am freezing to death.

How is the tropical winter in Alaska panning out for you?
Now this is funny! Over the last few days it has really warmed up and all the snow has melted. It is SO strange. Everyone in the Lower 48 is experiencing this Polar Vortex and Alaskans are breaking out their bikini tops and shorts. I think this is the calm before the storm…
Look at how warm it is! Snow just melting everywhere.
Have you taken up snowshoeing up there?
Not yet, but it is definitely on my plan to learn how to do. It has only really snowed twice and neither one of them where a ton of snow. I’m looking at getting snowshoes, no idea what kind is good. Maybe these?

Any plans to visit AZ at some point?
I am planning on coming home for Christmas and will be there for a couple weeks. Prices though are $800 one-way, so hopefully they will drop down. Otherwise, it will be out of my price range. Cross your fingers!
