Kenai Rivers Brewery - Smores

Are you ready for another new addition to the ol’ blog? I will be starting #ThirstyThursday where I share my favorite craft beer of the week. These will be from Alaska and the Lower 48. I’m looking forward to bringing you the beers that make this blogger smile just a little bit. So many beers… so little time.

The first craft beer is from Kenai Rivers Brewing Co in Soldotna, Alaska. I met one of the owners and Brewmaster Doug Hogue last week when he brought me a growler of Smores beer up to Anchorage. It is a 2-hour drive, so I was SO grateful for my growler of chocolatey goodness.

I posted this beer to Instagram and Untappd last week and had people practically beating down my door for my information on it. So here it is, sit back and just imagine how this would taste. First add in a ton of graham crackers with the mash. Then toss in marshmallows in the broil and allow a standard fermination. Just when you think it couldn’t taste any better, add in chocolate nibs to the bright tank. O.M.G. Delicious.

Kenai Rivers Brewery - Tasting

It tastes like there is coconut added to it, but there isn’t. This truly is my favorite stout in Alaska. I can’t get enough of it. I am begging him to can it so the rest of the world can enjoy it too. Right now, you can get it at a growler bar or on tap in Alaska and that’s it. If you think I am smuggling some of this with me when I visit Arizona during the Holidays, you would be right!
