Damn. I Wasn’t Expecting That When I Weighed In

I know this might be TMI, but I have what is shaping up to be a nicely shaped ass. I knew you would want to know! For years, I would look in the mirror and see a big cottage cheese looking ass. Then today, I did a double take when I got out of the shower and was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of those lumps gone. I won’t be completely embarrassed to be in a bathing suit when I go to the Dominican Republic in a couple weeks. Woot Woot!!!

Damn. I Wasn't Expecting That When I Weighed In

It has been 9 weeks since I landed in Indiana to do a 30 Day Detox. Most of you followed along as I struggled that first month with the strict guidelines I was under: No soy, no gluten, no alcohol, and six days a week of CrossFit. In the first 30 days, I lost 11 pounds and 25 inches!! I was so stoked! I have tried and tried and tried to lose weight and fight this food allergy of mine and I have always failed. Always. Until now. I might have done the hard work, but without the support of my cousin Dr. Trevor Miller, I feel I would have failed again. BUT I DIDN’T!

My 30-Day Detox Results Are In

I found myself again. I found the athlete that I used to be and the tears I shed felt like a metaphor for the inches falling away. Believe me, there were a lot of tears. A lot of angry outbursts, a lot of times I felt like the biggest loser on the block. I wasn’t physically strong or even mentally strong anymore. I was weak in every way imaginable. I felt beaten down by life.

I don’t right now. I feel better.

Trevor & Kristi Clifty Falls

Trevor and I at Clifty Falls. We hiked back to the falls and then brought trash and tires out from the water. Doing a good deed for nature 🙂

Soon after that initial 30 days was over I switched gyms to 812CrossFit. The workouts are vastly different, not better or worse, just different. Instead of going 6 days a week, I now go 3-4 days a week. Honestly, if 812CrossFit had a 5am class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I would go 5 days a week, but I just can’t fit the later times into my jam packed schedule.

The Bait Shack

I hadn’t been able to fit in this shirt in 8 months. Honestly, I barely fit in it when I first got in.
Now it is perfect. Love The Bait Shack!

Results After 8 Weeks

I have been very, and I mean, very sick the last two weeks. I had three soy reactions in seven days and it ended up affecting my lungs and gastro track. This has happened a couple times before when it has been very severe. I worked out when I could lift my head off the pillow, but my strength was shot. It has only been a couple days where I’m not coughing every two seconds and I have been able to head back to the gym.

Well, today was weigh-in day. When I sat down and looked at where I started to where I am now I started crying happy tears. I still have a shit ton of weight to lose, but I don’t feel hopeless about it. I can do this. I can FINALLY conquer my weight issue. The results aren’t necessarily in my weigh-in number, but in my inches. Take a look…

Total Weight Lost: 15 pounds

Total Inches Lost: 39.25 inches

Chest:           3.25
Waist:           5.25
Belly:             7.50
Hips:             7.75
Ass:               4.50
Thighs:         1.50
Calves:         1.00
Wrist:           2.75
Forearm:     2.25
Upper arm: 3.50

That’s over 3 FEET of I don’t know what that I am no longer carrying around. 3 FEET and 3 INCHES to be exact. And I can see the results, which makes me happy.

I get asked all the time how am I maintaining right now. I try to be soy free each and every meal, but that stuff sneaks in every where. I’m gluten-free 90% of the time. I have 1-3 drinks per week but I don’t overindulge. I buy one bar of Theo Chocolate and it lasts me a week or so. Other than that, I eat chicken most days and buy organic steak and vegetables weekly. I have a green juice and protein smoothie a few times a week. Nothing extreme, just eat clean every chance I get. I don’t take chances on food anymore. It just isn’t worth the agony to me. I don’t count calories and I’m not on a diet. I eat when I’m hungry and drink a shit ton of water every day. That’s it – no magic potions, no pills, no special diet… just good clean eating.

Other good news: I’ve been released to walk and hike more and try running very short distances. Can’t wait to see how my knee responds! Hopefully by the end of this year I can do a 5K again. Fingers crossed.

I’ve been asked A LOT as to what I’m up to in Indiana. Well… you should read this:
