Today I have to let you go. I have to say goodbye. I have held you in my hands, tasted your sweetness, and you have been the first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning. But today, I have to let you go.
You see, Dirty Chai, you are not helping me to live a healthy life. You have a whopping 54 grams of sugar in one Venti Non-fat Dirty Chai. :/ That is all the sugar I can have in a day. I’m sorry, but I started a love affair again with THEM… you know, fresh fruit. I love you, but I love blueberries, strawberries, and bananas more. It’s not you, it’s me.
I know you are going to ask if I am giving up my other two great loves… craft beer and wine. Not entirely, but they are on a severe restriction until I get back on the healthy bandwagon. I can have one each a week for my Wine Wednesday post and my weekly craft beer post. But for now, that is it. It’s a sad day, I know.
I will long for you when I see you in other people’s hands, Dirty Chai. But it is time for me to try something a bit healthier on the Starbucks menus that still pack a caffeine punch.
It is starting to get warmer out (ok, not really), but when it does, I like the Refresher line from Starbucks. For the Iced Venti, it is 100 calories at 15g of sugar. Still high in sugar, but a bit better than 54g! It is also a lot less expensive than you my love, Dirty Chai. I know, two strikes!
The best though for me to drink is tea. Black tea has zero calories and has as much caffeine as my fave Dirty Chai. And for those mornings when I am really craving my old friend, I can have a cup of espresso with a little milk and honey. It is quite good!
Will we ever get back together? No. No, we will not. I might savor you from time to time, but I really must leave you behind. You have been there for me for four years I know. But I want a smaller ass and thighs and you are not helping in that matter.
