Talk Tuesday with Kristi Trimmer

This is the fifth installment of Talk Tuesday. Did you miss the other ones? Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5. It amazes me that the Talk Tuesday posts are my most viewed posts! I collect the questions people ask me and answer them weekly (ok, sometimes I miss a week). Have a question for me about anything? Ask away in the comments below.

Talk Tuesday

How do you keep yourself protected from evil people?

Honestly, I say a prayer before I start a roadtrip to keep me safe and protected. I also hone into my intuition when I am in situations with new people and pay attention if I get an upset stomach or a headache as those are huge signs for me with people. Strangely, when I am away from those people the symptoms go away. I also use Life360.com to make sure my exact GPS coordinates are with many different people. I can’t stop evil people from coming into my life but I do hope through love and acceptance that maybe they won’t want to inflict harm on me.

If you could retire to any of the places you’ve visited, where would you go?

This is the million dollar question. Right now there are a few places that are in the lead for this including Seward, Alaska, Petaluma, California, and Astoria, Oregon. Half Moon Bay is up there on that list too and Anchorage isn’t far behind.

What’s an average plane ticket to Alaska cost?

It isn’t cheap – when I was pricing my ticket to San Francisco it was in the $400-700 range. Ouch! A few more airlines just picked up the Anchorage route so some of the prices have dropped. I am hoping that their is another pricing war and I will buy a few tickets then. Right now, the ticket prices is the only thing inhibiting me from moving up there.

Describe the climate in Alaska – Rain? Sun? Cold all the time?

I’ve only been there during the summer. When I first arrived in Seward, Alaska in early June it was about 50 degrees, raining and pretty cold. I’ve seen days in the 70s (which is hot there) and have experienced the very next day in the 40s. It changes pretty quickly! Alaska is in a temperate rainforest so it rains quite a bit. The closer you are to the Gulf of Alaska, the colder you are as well. Anchorage is a good 10 degrees warmer than Seward or Homer. I don’t know the weather for the rest of the state yet.

When does school start and get it out?

Hell if I know! I had to look this one up. Looks like they go in around the third week of August and get out at the end of May.

Have you ever been in a wild animal situation?

Yes, many many times. Wild animals come up to me ALL the time. No joke. In Yosemite, deer and chipmunks followed me around. When in South Dakota I found myself in the middle of a herd of 200+ deer and buffalo. In Alaska, I have been 20 feet away from both Black Bears and Grizzlies (I was in my car and they were on the side of the road). I have been told I put off an energy that animals love and they do seem to come up to me. I used to be freaked out about it. Now I freak out when it doesn’t happen! I puffy heart wild animals.
