Why Choose a Cricut Maker

Disclosure: This post not only shares the start of my journey with Cricut, but also has Affiliate Links that I earn commissions from. I was given the Cricut Maker and Accessories in exchange to learn more about the machine and to share this information with you. This is how I make a living and keep this little blog running. Thank you for supporting me! I appreciate it. Much love, Kristi.

I must have been living under a rock to miss all of the Cricut hype. I kinda was in all honesty, as I road tripped nomadically for quite a few years. I kept hearing about this machine, but didn’t really understand what it was or what it does. I still don’t, but that will soon change! I’m pretty excited to be working with Cricut and learning more about what the Cricut Maker, Heat Press and Infusible Inks can do.

Most of you might know that I have over 100+ Alaska-inspired designs at Alaska Wild & Free that I’ve made into stickers, magnets, coloring books, enamel pins, and apparel. I initially wanted a Cricut Maker so I could also create planner stickers. Then a friend showed me the new Infusible Inks and I started to wonder what could I do with those?

Cricut Printable Sticker Paper for Planner Stickers

This Printable Sticker Paper is for kiss-cut paper planner stickers and are not waterproof vinyl stickers.
Always make sure you buy the right paper for the stickers you want to create!

My first projects will be creating tote bags and the planner stickers. I already have the designs completed so now I have to figure out how to transfer those designs into Cricut Design Space then to the machines. Thankfully, I have a lot of friends who have Cricut machines and will be able to give me lots of advice and tidbits. Shop new arrivals from Cricut!

Isn’t it so pretty! I can’t wait to take this little guy for a spin!

I feel like a fish out of water here. I can barely use scissors and let’s not even talk about anything even more complicated. I am craft challenged, to say the least.

So why oh why would I want a Cricut Maker then? I am an artist, I create products that people love. With the Cricut Maker by my side, I know I can up my product game even more. I’ve seen the art that my friends create and I know with my designs, that I could also create some pretty amazing things.

The Unboxing

I felt like a kid on Christmas opening up all of the shipping boxes. As I pulled out each item, I thought – this sure is a pretty mint color, but I have no idea what it does. So many things to learn about and I can’t wait. I cannot be the only other adult who hasn’t plunged into the Cricut waters yet.

Cricut Maker Shipping Boxes

What I want to do is show other craft challenged people that we to can make beautiful things. Are you with me? First though, let’s open up all of these boxes.

Cricut Unboxing - What's in the Cricut box?

Then I went a step further and opened up these boxes as I wanted to touch and feel all the things. I love opening up new tech! That’s exactly what this was for me… new things for me to learn how to use and master.

BrightPad is Not an iPad

You probably already knew that… but in all fairness the box makes it look like an iPad. Right? Then I was thrown off when it said it was for weeding. I weed way too often in my garden and I couldn’t quite understand what they meant. I posted on Facebook that the Cricut Maker was here and asked these simple questions. I thought my friends were going to fall over in Facebookland laughing at me. Apparently, weeding means removing the tiny pieces in between the design. Who knew?

The lightweight, low-profile BrightPad makes crafting easier while reducing eye strain.

Learn with Cricut

The Cricut machine is officially out of the box!! Woo hoo!!! Now, it’s time to head to http://learn.cricut.com to learn more about it and to find info on how to use it and make the out of the machines and accessories.

I have been watching a ton of Cricut videos on YouTube. I’m still nervous about using it. I will update this post as I make my first project – planner stickers. What did you create first with your Cricut Maker or what would you like to try your hand out.
