#WineWednesday Let’s Get Naked

Welcome to my new weekly post – #WineWednesday. Those of you that read me regularly are more than likely used to seeing #MooseMonday where I post pics of moose I see in Alaska and #TalkTuesday where you can ask me any question under the sun and I will answer it. I used to have a pure wine blog and when I rebranded in April, it was with the intention of having a regular wine section (and craft beer!) on it. I am happy to launch #WineWednesday and I know I have the really hard to task of drinking wine each week. I do it for you, really! 🙂

Just like with craft beer, I like to try wine from small craft wineries. I also love to partner with companies that I feel are doing it right. NakedWines.com is one of those wine sites that I believe is doing right by the winemakers.

Their site has two components. One is you can become an Angel (who doesn’t want wings?) and deposit $40 a month into your Naked Piggy Bank. Spend it on any wine whenever you want, or get it back if you don’t. Simple, really. Every month an Angel receives a free bottle of wine for being a part of the program. Now that’s an interest payout I can get behind!

The second way their site works is to just buy wine that you want for yourself or as a gift. Simple – it’s the way we are used to shopping.

Naked Wines - The Reds - Vertical WW

Now I will admit, getting this wine to Alaska was a bit challenging. I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, but damn, shipping is pricey to Alaska. I had this shipped to me when I was in the Lower 48 and then put it in my luggage for the flight back. I might have gone done to Indiana with a case of Alaskan beer, but I came back up with a case of beer AND a case of wine. I win!

Naked Wines - JC Van Staden - Vertical

The other night I made home a pretty freaking awesome pasta sauce (humble, I know). I was in the mood for a Cab and grabbed this JC Van Staden Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, California. I’ve had Lodi wine before, and know their reputation with Cabs, so I was not disappointed when I tasted this. Full body, deep rich notes that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and so incredibly full of flavor. This is a blend of the best Cab grapes in the Lodi region, and well, it is quite amazing. I could definitely snuggle up to the fire on a cold Alaskan night with this baby in my glass.

I just saw it is only available to Angels. This wine would be a perfect reason for me to sign right on up. If this is the quality of their other wines, I am IN.

Disclosure: I received a case of wine from NakedWines.com to check out their program and to see what I thought. Honestly, can’t wait to try the other bottles now! Links within this post contain affiliate links that I earn commissions from. Example, if you click on the above link and purchase anything from that site I make a small commission, no matter what you purchase. This is how I pay for my travels and this blog, because you know, I am not independently wealthy!  Thank you for supporting me and my crazy adventures around the US, and especially in Alaska!
