Those of you that are new to my story, might not know that it started in the garden.

I’ve been fascinated by seeds and plants since I was little. I would grow green beans in egg shells and would be so excited watching the little guys grow up. Both of my grandmothers were gardeners – one grew herbs, vegetables, and everything needed to feed her family on a small farm in Indiana. The other loved flowers, succulents, and cacti and loved container and patio gardening in urban Arizona.

This is my dream garden! I love love love gardening in raised beds!

Disclosure: This post not only shares my new business, Seed Plant Bloom, but also has Affiliate Links that I earn commissions from. This is how I make a living and keep this little blog running. Thank you for supporting me! I appreciate it. Much love, Kristi & Porter.

My first business was creating handmade botanical oil candles at 20. Then while writing for the DoD I became addicted to growing seeds. I grew over 300 plants on my little patio and sold them at farmers markets around town. Then I owned a flower shop in central Phoenix. During that time I was the local garden girl for 10 years on Sonoran Living Live on ABC15.

Gardening fuels my soul! I love it so much!

While I was working for the government as a writer, I went back and did some post-graduate studies and earned a degree in horticulture. Plus I’m and am a Master Florist and a Master Gardener.

I now call Anchorage, Alaska, home and am learning how to garden in the Arctic – it is challenging, but I love it! Seed Plant Bloom is taking me back to my roots, back to gardening.

Why now, why Seed Plant Bloom?

I’ve been a professional writer for 20 years+ and a blogger for more than 10. I absolutely love writing! I have written hundreds of gardening blog posts for other bloggers and have watched them be repinned a million times (not exaggerating) and help others to garden with my words. Don’t worry, I’m not giving up writing in the least… it has a hold onto my soul and it isn’t letting go.

What has my heart though is planting seeds, watching them grow, nurturing them, then harvesting that hard work at the end of the season. I freaking love it!

I took a little over a year off from writing and pursued a side hustle. I enjoy that side business, but it is not my passion. If there is one thing to know about me is that I follow my passions and don’t merely exist in life. Some of those passions have turned into businesses and others are kept away from the public eye. As a serial entrepreneur, when I have a business I am passionate about I feel totally alive!

To say I have a slight plant addiction is an understatement! What I also have though is this burning desire to teach others how to grow plants too… specifically herbs and vegetables.

I used to have SO many gardening books!

Seed Plant Bloom was Created to Help YOU in the Garden

I remember what it was like just starting out with all the questions, not sure if I was doing it right, then being bummed when my little plants failed to thrive. I spent a ton on gardening books, was the youngest person in my garden clubs, and then took classes to learn how to garden in the desert. I spent SO much money learning how to not kill plants. Ha!

This little box is all of those years of trial and error delivered to your doorstep.

One of the coolest things about being a seedaholic is finding rare heirloom seeds to grow. I know I’m not the only one who wants a bit of diversity in the foods that I grow and eat. I want to share these awesome finds with you. Then there are the garden accessories and gifts that I come across. I know I can’t be the only one who would love to try it in their garden. My vision is to garden together, learn from one another, and to help foster the love of plants and flowers for years to come.

Welcome to my little spot in the garden. Welcome to Seed Plant Bloom an organic gardening subscription box.

Psst… want to start a subscription box of your very own. First know they are a lot of work then go get ’em tiger! CrateJoy is an all-in-on sub box platform that you should check out. I also recommend Shopify (I’m working on that site as we speak).

I just received my Mother’s Day box, and still trying to find out who sent it. It is one of the nicest, most exciting, prettiest gifts I’ve ever received! Many thanks to the giver, whoever you may be.
And Kristi, wishing you great success in this new business venture.
