Sugar and Spice and Everything Target Nice

It is the Holiday season and there are couples everywhere I turn getting engaged. So many of my friends have announced engagements this year and have been asking me about their wedding registries. You see, once upon a time I was a Wedding Coordinator and owned a flower shop in Phoenix. I helped with everything from choosing flowers to picking out the perfect Calphalon cookware to cook Christmas dinner with. Sugar and Spice and Everything Target Nice… the perfect combination for your Target’s Wedding Registry.

Target Registry

My favorite place to send couples to create their wedding registry was Target. Using Target’s Wedding Registry it was easy to pick out items that would then create the perfect Holiday setting from the table setting to the music playing in the background. Target has it all. I puffy heart Target. #TargetRegistry

This Bistro Threshold Ceramic 6-piece dinnerware set is perfect for everyday use and to invite the new in-laws over for Christmas dinner. It comes in quite a few colors, but I am partial to this sage green color. Have this sitting on a red placemat for the Holidays or a brown bamboo one for an everyday look.

Threshold Bistro Ceramic 16-Piece Dinnerware Set $39.99

My favorite pots and pans set, hands-down is Calphalon. I had a full set on my registry and have added pieces throughout the years – I even took my set around the US with me when I went on my epic #GirlOnTheRun road trip. I used them in everyday cooking and to make up my famous Pancetta Cheddar Mashed Potatoes and My Famous Drunk Turkey Recipe for Thanksgiving and Christmas – you know the one that everyone always begs me to make every year 😉

I just can’t seem to cook unless I have tunes rocking out of my SONOS. While I am whipping up dinner it is usually something that gets me bouncing around and happy. Then when my guests come over and sit down to eat, I mellow it out with Holiday tunes or some soul-soothing music.

SONOS Play 5
SONOS PLAY: 5 Wireless HiFi System $399

What I always told couples was to add things to their registry that were both traditional and non-traditional. Add on everything you need for your kitchen, but don’t be afraid to add on that kayak either. The couple that plays together, stays together.

My tip to survive the holidays is to stop and smell the nutmeg. Enjoy the activities you partake in and the company you surround yourself with. Relax and create new memories that you can enjoy over the years.

I make it a point to take a day just for me. No one can contact me. I leave the house and do things by myself. Maybe see a movie, have a meal, go for a drink, massage. I would do all of the above in one day all by myself. No errands allowed! I come home relaxed and I am ready to be busy again after that.
Holiday stress never gets to me 😉

Take time for yourself. We always have a lot going on around the holidays like everyone else. My favorite thing to do is to run and no matter how busy we are I always make time for that!

I repeat the mantra “One step at a time.” If I think about EVERYTHING that has to be done, it can feel overwhelming. It isn’t as bad just focusing on one thing at a time though. Crossing things off of your list with a pretty highlighter instead of a pen or pencil is fun too 🙂

To survive the holidays, I focus on family and our crazy traditions. Every Christmas Eve, we have a huge meal around a specific theme, go bowling, and dress up in the theme. It’s fun and it helps reduce stress. I also have a lot of fun finding Christmas jammies for my neices and nephews – and sometimes their cousins when we are all together.

Best tip for surviving the holidays? Get as much of your shopping done online as possible. Many people don’t like to do this because of the escalation of shipping costs, but many retailers offer discounted or even FREE shipping on selected days this time of year. I got half of my Christmas shopping done in 3 nights without leaving my living room and paid less than $15 in shipping costs. The less you have to physically walk into stores/malls this time of year, the better.

Taking the time to read a Christmas-related novel every December with my husband. This year, we’re reading FINDING NOEL by Richard Paul Evans.

Staying calm, keeping cool and trying to make sure things don’t get hectic during the holidays by reminding people to think of the Spirit of Christmas and tone down their anxiety and attitudes for the holidays. Play music of the Christmas season, make cookies and enjoy nice peppermint tea to keep cool.

My tip is to just enjoy the holidays. It’s not about what I get everyone and what all needs to be done and by when. If it doesn’t get purchased or done by xx date, it will still be okay!

Plan as much as you can ahead of time. Make any meals that you can beforehand. `Prepare casseroles until the point at which they would go in the oven the day before. Have all of your Christmas presents wrapped and under the tree (or hidden) as soon as you can that you do not have to do it Christmas Eve. The holidays are so much more enjoyable when you can relax.
